Not worth a hit to Technical career

Pros

If you are lucky, you might be able to travel. Even to places you never would want to go. It does put a lot of whiners complaints to perspective.

Cons

Anything technical is outsourced. You either can be a glorified paper pusher that will rocket up to middle management and have no idea what you are filling out the forms for or you can try to be operations risking it all and find out its a dead end. The pay compared to outside and the benefits are terrible. I am all for living for ideals but I honestly think those went out long ago.
