Pros

Nationwide has a great culture with the best work/life balance. People stay for 20-30 years. There are also lots of development opportunities. It's a big place, so you can move from business to business.

Cons

Nationwide tends to value employees on their experience at Nationwide and often doesn't count what you did before you came to the company. For instance, if you've never led associates at Nationwide, then it's valued as if you never led at all. They seem to only value experience that is relevant to the specific role being hired for. Technical expertise is values, yet general execution and leadership experience is valued verbally, but not when it comes down to actually moving up. This seems to impact Nationwide's ability to truly collaborate between technical silos.

Pros

Decent pay, benefits and office space.

Cons

Didn't seem to care about older, better paid workers. There were constant team/department reorganizations and everyone would have to re-interview for their position. Those who were not retained were older and those who got the jobs were younger, often times much younger. Their diversity and inclusion program was in name only. The recommendations coming out of their council were rarely implemented. Minorities were generally in senior positions (VP or higher) in HR, D&I or other non-impact departments.

Pros

Hours. Remote capabilities. Decent pay

Cons

Rather than replacing staff losses, extra work is pushed on remaining staff but no incentives or pay raises.
