Pros

Opportunities to move and expand experience. Friendly, professional culture. Cafeteria has very healthy food at reasonable prices. Beautiful atrium with water streams for quick stress reliever at Home Office. Health club with mid-day Yoga classes very helpful.

Cons

During one of many Nationwide Reorgs, I was one of 17 who were laid off. 16 people in the group were age 50+. Young college grads were replacing the 50+ workforce. I was terminated 30 days prior to my 10-yr anniversary, when I would have received premium retirement benefits.

Pros

No pros I can think of.

Cons

I have a number of pensions from various companies I worked for during my career. Unlike Social Security retirement and all other pension plans I am eligible for, Nationwide excluded any COLA benefit from its plan. How could a company expect a former employee to exist on a pension that was calculated when the employee retired, say 67 or 68, but could potentially be paid until the employee dies in his 90s? It certainly is cheap for a company not to give an annual cost of living increase on its pension plans unlike Social Security and the retirement plans of most employers. No wonder Nationwide charges one of the highest premiums for its insurance. It ought to be ashamed of its actions, or lack thereof. I am sure officers with the company don't have the same issue with their pension plans.

Pros

Company has decent benefits but even those seem to be sub standard for the market

Cons

- training consists of a few one hour modules before they expect you to know everything - pay is less than same role with other companies - They expect unreasonable and unrealistic goals for their employees setting them up for failure since day 1 - I put in my two weeks notice at least hoping to try and stay, however, was sent a termination agreement 5 minutes after submitting my resignation
