Pros

My experience at Navanit has been a positive one. Since I started working at Navanti over a year and a half ago, Navanti has always taken strides to continuously improve an already good work environment. Management, even at the top level, is open to ideas and listen to recommendations from analysts on how to improve processes. While there is adequate feedback and support to analysts to ensure the quality of products, analysts are afforded a great deal of leeway in writing analysis and encouraged to be creative in finding ways to enhance products. The company recently began bringing in outside consultants to provide professional training for its analysts, evidence that Navanti's management is investing in their employees' professional development. Furthermore, over the past year Navanti has implemented a new structured approach for employees to advance within the company and receive raises. While everyone is expect to work hard, a flex schedule of every other Friday off helps employees maintain a good work/life balance. A three day weekend every other week is outstanding! Flexibility is one of Navanti's greatest benefits. Analysts are often afforded the ability to work remote when needed. The work is exciting and rewarding and the majority of the analysts are young, smart professionals.

Cons

Though transparency, communication, structure, and job security (due to nature of contracting) may have once been issues, all have significantly improved over the past year.

Pros

1- Navanti provides a fast-paced and challenging work environment. 2- Co-workers are friendly and knowledgeable. 3- Navanti has a flexible schedule. Employees can work from home and can benefit from “flex Fridays.” 4- Great opportunities for serving both public and private sector clients. Employees can sometimes develop subject matter expertise in several different countries. 5- Self-starters succeed at Navanti. If entry-level analysts have a strong work ethic and a sense of imagination, they can on occasion spearhead their own projects. 6- Great place to develop and hone social media analysis and cartography skills. 7- Management is accessible to employees. Mid-level managers are drawn from seasoned practitioners and academics. 8- If you have strategic language skills, a good work ethic, are self-motivated and have a firm understanding that these jobs don't provide long-term security but do provide an opportunity to grow your skillset without a clearance, this is the place for you. It is a good stepping stone in the analyst profession. Responsibility and challenging assignments are front loaded.

Cons

1- Very stressful work. Deadlines are tight. 2- Similar to most contractor jobs, you should not assume that your contract will be renewed. Acquiring and keeping contracts is a difficult process for all private sector companies in the DC/VA/MD area. 3- You need to be a quick study in the workplace because the fast-paced nature of the work leaves a limited amount of time for training opportunities.
