Pros

We were on a military base in Japan so a close-knit group. Gained so much experience and knowledge during my time here as well as life-long connections. Very rewarding job, educating a lot of younger active duty military and their families. Getting to see their reactions when you resolve an issue or exceed expectations was the icing on the cake. Management accommodated family life and work/life balance. No micromanaging (thankfully). If you want to learn something extra or think you’re ready to take on more tasks or responsibility, management is open to and encourages that. They even went out of their way to see if we could have a mortgage specialist at our branch (I was interested in taking that on). There wasn’t enough of a demand in our area for that but just that they would try to make it happen meant a lot to me. Great benefits, 401K, culture. I felt like Navy Fed truly cared about me even across the ocean. The CEO and director of branch operations visited our branch! I worked at a smaller credit union in Florida previously and that didn’t even happen there and we were 40 minutes away from corporate… I would have loved to continue my journey with Navy Federal but now live in an area where there are no branches near me. Otherwise I’d jump at the chance!

Cons

Less room for advancement/career opportunities if you are in a branch overseas. (Understandable though)
