Pros

There are a number of great people still at NetApp. The people in the trenches make the business work.

Cons

Promotions are next to impossible to earn. Instead of promoting based on merit, the whole organization has to compete for reqs, and the reqs go to favored senior managers, who then promote based on political agendas. Escalation Engineers avoid taking cases like the plague and tens to hoard knowledge instead of fostering team growth. The Financial organization is devastating the company as it bows to pressure from an activist investor who really doesn't care about the future of the company or its supremely loyal customers.

Pros

It can be difficult to make a decent wage in IT and not work 60+ hours a week. NetApp is has a great work/life balance. I really never work over 44 hours a week. Also working in support really sharpens your skills, but it can be painful. I am twice the engineer I was prior to coming to this company.

Cons

Three layoffs in 2 years. The workload can be overwhelming and creates alot of stress, but at least there is little to no OT. Far too many antiquated systems causing you to have to do work in 6 different systems rather than just one. Bleeding talent.

Pros

Lots of things like Beer Bash on Fridays, free fruit one day a week, bagels on Friday mornings and other goodies now and then and plenty of opportunity for training.

Cons

Management can be very loose allowing people to show up late 30-60 mins late day after day. With recent happenings at NetApp you will see most of the RTP support center has been moved to other regions thanks to poor leader ship by our CEO, but he still has his job.
