You're either In or you're Out

Pros

Growing software IT company. In a growing space. Could be a good place to start a career but if you stay too long, you either accept and join in, taking on the bad habits, accepting the abuse or you recognize it doesn't have to be this way and move to a different organization.

Cons

Netsmart executive team continues to manage through fear and intimidation. A veil of work hard, perform, we care, words matter, etc. is used to shield employees from the utter contempt and back stabbing tactics used to hurt others in order to grow status in the organization. It is well known across the organization, especially amongst the leadership level, you are either in or you're out. And that can change on a whim. All the bad habits from Cerner have been brought over to Netsmart through the continual staffing of the executive team from that organization. The warning is there. Many other reviews share the same sentiment.

Pros

1. Educational resources plentiful 2. Visibility across the board 3. Teamwork

Cons

I had great hopes and expectations for my career at Netsmart. Unfortunately, this company will drain you of everything you have. Yourself, time, confidence, energy. Even though they were founded on human services and mental wellness, yours will be at risk. They have forgotten the human factor for clients and associates. We are all just a number to help senior management meet their goal, while those of us losing work/life balance are expected to work countless hours for less compensation. My compensation plan changed 3 times in one year. They keep it confusing so you don't know what you should be paid out. If you like working in a last minute, fire drill environment, this might be for you. Leadership is less than desirable. People are promoted who have minimal leadership, organizational and communication skills.

Company doesn't Care

Pros

Get to work with some great people. Almost no overhead bureaucracy slowing progress down.

Cons

Wages are incredibly stagnate. Extremely limited opportunity for career advancement. Office woefully understaffed. Typically only a single developer and no QA working on a product. Upper management seems to intentionally run off any client they can't up sell to our more expensive products.
