Working For Network Rail

Pros

Some of the best training and training related oportunities I have had in my working life. Great potential for progression Good salary and benefits Regular 1:1 feedback and development plans.

Cons

High performance expectations Some senior management (Band 2) should look at their own performance before their staff. Overtime is unpaid as the position is salaried, when working for a contractor such as Amey, or Babcock you would be paid.

Pros

Good salary and benefits Good project management framework lots of opportunities on diverse projects

Cons

Senior management have archaic methods of management Not collaborative Way too hierarchical, I guess a result of its evolution and the number of ex-military employed. General organisational structure not very good, but perhaps getting better. Look at VFM from a micro point-of-view rather than at the macro level.
