Pros

the pay is decent but no raises unless you take the rbt test

Cons

lack of hours. when your client calls out you can either sub for another bht call out or do “admin hours” at the clinic which can include cleaning and working front desk/ phones. when you sub for a different kid they give you no information prior and you go in pretty much blind to a school, someone’s home, or at the clinic with no real help. when you sub in the school the teachers expect you to know exactly what to do for that exact child when in reality it’s your first time ever meeting them. they don’t offer vacation time or sick time. only “PTO” which you’d have to use for everything

Pros

I was lucky to have been given a compatible schedule with being a full-time student. I loved the BCBA I worked with and felt like I gained valuable experienced in the behavioral therapy field. I am a Master's student working towards an LPC in the future, and I felt like this part-time job was also valuable in the sense of exposing me to different areas of the psych field. I think the pay was reasonable for the position I had and having it be the first BHT job I had.

Cons

Again, I got lucky with the scheduling personally. I talked to some behavior techs who were struggling to find more hours that fit into their schedule. I worked mostly in a daycare setting where the student to teacher ratio was way higher than it should have been. The stressful environment started to affect my own mental health, which is not related to the company itself, but I would be mindful in which type of setting you could be working in depending on the client.

Thank you for sharing your feedback and for being a valued member of our team. Seeing as we aim to nurture a highly supportive work culture, we are very pleased to hear that you connected with and learned from your BCBA supervisor. We are advocates for self care and seeking additional support or resources when needed, so we hope you know that we appreciate and are always eager to support our fellow team members.
