Pros

Great name value - opens doors - and many of your colleagues are terrific people. When the work is good, it is very, very good.

Cons

Management is arrogant, hubristic, inbred, venal and clueless. OK, nobody in the newspaper business knows where the future lies, but this bunch is throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what will stick.

Pros

It never hurts to have New York Times on your resume. Some of the people there are very nice, and most have an abiding sense of professionalism.

Cons

As in any large bureaucracy, the ones who claw their way to the top tend to have the most twisted personalities. The paternalism of former generations has given way to a viciousness that contributed to this company's downfall. The lack of strategic vision is shocking.

Pros

OK salary comparing to other media companies

Cons

Highly useless management. No structural way for personal development or progression. Seems like those senior managers and directors only with the titles but not the brain! And the reason why they are senior are because of tenure, not competency! Nothing really gets done until these managers are being copied in or send the email themselves! Very hierarchical, and would not recommend if you are looking to learn and grow - very poor knowledge sharing, only the ''circle of trust ''get to know and they don't share! Or if they do share, there's not insight added what so ever, but just simply hit 'forward'.
