Pros

Mostly nice people. Good work life balance. Flexibility with work schedule.

Cons

No career growth. Some departments are very political. You won’t advance unless you’re liked by the right people.

Pros

NYT's culture is open and collaborative, with lots of friendly colleagues, most of whom who care deeply about the work they produce. Flexible hybrid schedules, in-building cafeteria, huge office with choices on where and how you'd like to work. Being in the newsroom on election nights is a unique experience.

Cons

It really depends on what team you're on but general cons are: sloooow to promote, long chain of decision-makers, siloed teams although they're improving on this, and slightly below-market-rate pay for the same job you'd be doing at a tech company.
