You deserve better

Pros

Decent pay and benefits, but thats it.

Cons

So many Cons. If you like getting things done and feeling accomplished, this place is not for you. If you enjoy bureaucracy and needless levels of people who don't know what they are doing telling you what to do, then you will love this place. The managers they put in place are there because they dont rock the boat and follow rules, not for knowledge. If you work here you will 100% be smarter than your manager but will be stifled by them. This is in EVERY team. It doesnt matter if you are on gas, electric, maintenance, or vegatation, this is the case across the board. Speaking of board, every few years they announce new leadership, but its the same people just flipped around to new positions. They value "diversity" but in name only. Its all lip service. If you need a job and have nothing else give it a try, but do yourself a favor and go somehwere else, you deserve better.

NiSource is the worst

Pros

Columbus location is in the Arena District, and they pay for your parking. So, it's a great area for events after work.

Cons

The HR Department is outsourced and horrible. They messed up my vacation time, how often I get paid, my tax exemptions and when I need them, they never get back to me. They don't even have a Covid plan if you've been exposed to a positive case. It is the absolute worst HR Department I've ever seen. Training is horrible. We have to take training classes for work we don't even do. I do not work in the field on the pipeline but have to take safety trainings as if I do. It wastes so much time. The company doesn't actually care about the job you are doing. You can be getting all of your work done on time and under budget and they'll come up with reasons to pick you apart with ridiculous rules that change every 3 months. They are negative and only concentrate on any way they can keep you from getting a bonus or raise so that management can keep as much as possible for themselves. Its gross.

Well-compensated yet Chaotic

Pros

Competitive pay. Flexible with time off.

Cons

Everyone has their own concept of company processes and it typically falls to individual contributors to fight it out with other work groups. Steady decline over past 5 years towards borderline-toxic relationships between work groups.
