Great Culture - Tough Sales Gig

Pros

Great culture with a very fun atmosphere; you will make friends. A real sales job. Opportuinty for un-capped commission. Learning an extremely valuable trade and industry that can be a great foundation for the rest of your carreer. Low Barrier to entry - do you have a pulse? Best office culture in the company.

Cons

Freight is a tough industry where half the people working in it have no idea whats going on. You will have to give dissapointing news every day of your carreer and learn how to face rejection and objections. If your on the brokerage side - you will be cold calling. Every. Single. Day. Every. Single. Free. Moment. Dont get it twisted thats the role. Too much stuff to learn than you can be trained on and you will need to learn by failing. 2024 was a rough freight market - could/should rebound but I would not want to be a new broker over the last year. Constant change and road blocks is your job. Its not for everyone and luck is definately a factor,

Thanks for the candid and thoughtful feedback. I'm happy to see you're in a good spot overall, and that our company numbers seem to be trending up, which of course means great things for brokers! I'll make sure to pass on your comments to our HR team to follow up about the favoritism-- that part is certainly not what we want to see. Please always feel free to reach out to your HRBP to discuss things like this-- there are systems in place to ensure you have a voice!

Pros

Absolutely no pros at all; worst job I've ever had.

Cons

Management is terrible, no one shows real effort in helping new hires, drinking alcohol is their priority, and you're thrown to the wolves after two weeks of training, expected to be fully knowledgeable on the position you were hired for and it's frowned upon to ask for clarity or help. Honestly it's more of a frat house vibe than professional.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. I'm surprised to read these comments as they don't match the feedback we typically get from new hires, which we collect during surveys at the 30, 60 and 90 day marks of a new hire's journey. That said, we take concerns like this seriously and will be investigating the issues you raise. We're always working to create a supportive and professional (and fun!) environment, and we have new management training programs coming soon to ensure our leaders are better equipped to support new hires. If you're open to discussing further, please reach out to hrteam@ntgfreight.com - We value input like this and wish you the best in your next role.
