Built on solid family values, Technology Leadership is focused on driving Transformational change in how we deliver and what we deliver, Technology Leadership is spending a great deal of time to take the organization to the next level. They are willing to make the tough decisions that people may not like, but know it's needed in order to be successful in this Retail market. This comes with a variety of opinions. At the end of the day, this leadership team is working hard to show the Engineering teams of all levels and disciplines that they matter and is listening to feedback.

Cons

Like many large companies in the midst of Transformation and a Retail landscape that is changing so quickly it's tough to keep up and react. There does need to be additional strong leaders brought in to continue the journey order to not burn out the team we have. They do still need to "Clean House" with some legacy behaviors in order to turn the corner or else these people will only be the boat anchor that will prevent the rest of us experiencing success and most importantly the desire and willingness to do the work needed if you do keep these folks around.

It is a good place to work and grow your career. The folks here will help you when you are asking for help. We are using Cloud technologies (AWS) a lot. Great place to learn new stuff. Great discount and good medical insurance coverage. Annual bonuses.

Cons

TOM (a Technology re-organization) earlier this (2016) year was the Great technology leadership failure. Many people were fired in a very bad way. And many bright people, who I know personally, left the company. Our leadership admitted -- that was a failure. Well, now the things are getting better, so it is a safe time to join Nordstrom if you are planning to do so.
