Pros

The discount is 20% which is nice, yet not enough to make huge dent. you end up spending your whole pay check there. At least the girls I worked around did!

Cons

catty girls, life must be fashioned obsessed to be current and successful, the return policy is a joke!! All the money you make is from commission and once the item is returned you make nothing. AND because of the liberal return policy, most people buy thinggs, wear them, and return

Pros

Chance to build close coworker relationships and discount. The job is very close knot. Coworkers often become great friends or more and sometimes rally against management.

Cons

Returns, Returns, Returns, Returns, Returns. The return policy makes absolutely no sense. You will loose more money than you make with such return policy. Fights and heated arguements break out strictly off of returns with customers. There should be no way on this earth that you should be able to return a pair of shoes you wore 10 years ago. Customers come first but there should be a limit to this rule.

Pros

The company is fairly well respected within the retail industry and local community. There is job growth potential (to leadership level) without a degree.

Cons

At a leadership level: -The number of hours one needs to commit to get the job done satisfactorily. -The unspoken expectation that the hours will be worked, without complaint, regardless of the toll it takes on ones personal life/family. -The idea that Nordstrom senior management is 'compassionate' about employees having a balance between life and work. -Being hired into a new role only to find that there is no training or coaching available - sink or swim time! The majority of successful people in leadership at Nordstrom, have no children, grown children or are single. As a woman, having it all (wife, mother and employee) is neither a realistic, nor healthy expectation in working at a leadership level within the company.
