Cons

Favoritism , and the managers are complete Butt holes they manipulate people into doing things so they can fire them . You barely get hours and management talks a lot of stuff about employees

Pros

Good opportunities for promotion Good benefits 20% employee discount Flexible schedule Good place for part time work

Cons

The only reason I'm giving this a 3 start Instead of two is because I liked working at the rack four years ago before the mobile checkout came in. Now it has just turned into a chaotic madhouse that's nuttier than a sack of squirrel poo. Nordstrom does some things right but in terms of planning things out they often don't think things through which causes problems for everyone else. It is a mentality and physically challenging place to work especially with the ridiculously insane pressure to sell credit cards and the constant chattering in your ear set while you are trying to do 3 things at once since departments are never staffed well. The customers are generally nice but ever since mobile checkout I saw an increase of rude impatient attitudes ironically. The floor is always a wreck even 5 minutes after picking up clothes because people seem to be less than apathetic about their messes. There is low moral and high turn over because its quite obvious that the only thing managers care about is making money and getting promoted.

Pros

Good entry level position Very laid back environment Bagels every first Friday of the month Good benefits

Cons

There's no room for growth here. If you want to get promoted, you kiss people's butts. Promotions are not based on merit, they're based on favoritism. HR doesn't do anything about it when you come to them for their support. Pay is ridiculously low for how hard you work everyday. Your opinion does not matter here. Management is always right. They are stubborn and will not value your opinion or respect you, for that matter. Listen to your employees when they tell you that something is wrong. You're going to lose very valuable people because of bad judgement of your HR team and management. This is not how a Nordstrom company should run. HauteLook is going to ruin the company's reputation of how their employees should be treated.
