Pros

Working with a population who desperately needs care, is rewarding. The floor staff care and have each other’s backs but managers and higher do not.

Cons

Children and teens are crammed in, units are just hallways. It’s clear this hospital was not built for psych as there is no room for youth to walk around, take breaks etc. When you cram 10-18 kids in a hallway; with nowhere to take breaks it is easy for the whole unit to become elevated. The environment is dirty, laundry machines barely work; overall completely not therapeutic.
