Pros

Great training program, no glass ceiling (you work hard, it pays off.

Cons

You have to filter through a lot of calls to get sales, many people you speak with half the time aren’t interested or don’t qualify. $500 due monthly to work for them. No other benefits.

While we run television commercial and social media advertisements to generate inbound calls and a higher quality lead, its important to remember, we cannot control who calls in. We are very happy to hear you had a positive experience during our training program. North Star works very hard to ensure that everyone has a great learning experience, and it is wonderful to see our efforts are paying off! The $500 a month subscription fee is used by North Star to assist you in both servicing your current book of business and provide you with prequalified leads to grow your business. Pros

Earning potential could be great.

Cons

You have to pay THEM 1,000$ before you get much of any true information. You are told before going to the company, that it will be inbound calls only. They leave out that you have to do 10 hours talk time of outbound before inbound happens. Very poor training. They give you the very basics because they want you to get on the phones immediately. You have to read their script exactly which is very manipulative to the customer. If you question it in any way, it is not appreciated. They would rather have younger inexperienced agents so they do not know any better. Question nothing!

The $1000 startup fee from North Star includes your setup and two months' access to our unique platform. Our platform includes our fantastic training program, business, and sales advice from our business advisors, technology support and access, and unlimited prequalified leads. Regarding your comment about having to make outbound calls, this must have been a misunderstanding during your recruitment process. The agent must first complete their training program before they are provided with live transfers from the marketing department. Our training includes agents making these outbound calls, to learn proper techniques, and how to handle a client on the phone. Thank you for your advice on ways to improve our training program. Pros

Easy to get hired. Nice office (because they take advantage of a lot of people)

Cons

Trapped. They send you a bill for thousands if you quit. They take 60 percent of your commissions on your good deals but charge you back 100 percent of your cancels!

First, it is important to note that you were never an employee with North Star. You were an independent contractor working for yourself and engaging us in a subscription service to help build your insurance sales business. There must have been some misunderstanding in terms of how the commissions work. North Star does not pay out commissions, as commissions are paid directly by the insurance carrier. The statement that North Star will “charge you back 100 percent of your cancels!” is false. Agents who have clients cancel their policy are only charged back for the advance they receive from the insurance carrier. While we are disappointed you did not find the right opportunity here at North Star, we wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
