Truly an incredible career!

Pros

I started with Northstar after struggling in face-to-face insurance sales for years. I was honestly worried that the system would not be as good as the one that was described to me, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out it was even better! Tony and the management team are incredible people that truly care about those they work with, and the system they have developed allows people to be extremely successful. The freedom and flexibility to work from home is absolutely amazing and I’ve never had a position that allowed me to earn as much as I have with Northstar while making a difference in peoples lives! If you are looking at this company as a possible career, I would highly recommend you get started right away!

Cons

The only downside I found to working here is the work hours are specific to a time zone, so hours vary greatly if you are outside of the time zone.

Scummy sale

Pros

I do feel that this company cares for and treats its employees and contractors great.

Cons

The presentation is scummy, I would have a problem with someone talking to my parents this way and is borderline deceitful. If your OK with commanding elderly people to "go get your checkbook" and trick them into reading their account number or when they say something like I'm not comfortable - you say "thats OK go ahead" then you have no morals. The script is designed to bring through a range of emotions and is very manipulative. This insurance sale has a very high rate of cancellation, VERY HIGH. It also requires a large expense to get started, and the second you leave you are cut off from your clients, and will receive a large bill for charge backs with no way to fix the problem. The Insurance carriers pricing is much higher than available to the public, you will not be proving a lot of value to these customers.

North Star Insurance Advisors Response

Thank you for leaving a review of what you experienced while subscribing to our insurance agent support services. It is important to note that we do not employ insurance sales agents, but you were an independent contractor of an insurance carrier and engaged in our subscription service for agents looking to rapidly scale their business. We appreciate your engagement, but we are very disappointed to read that you did not have a positive experience. Thank you for saying that North Star seems to really care about the people they work with. We care very deeply for all of you and want everyone to live successful lives in terms of their business and personal endeavors. We do not appreciate your inaccurate description of our companies’ script, however. We would never demand anyone to purchase a product, we are here to help inform potential customers and educate them on their options and which plans would fulfill their needs. We want them to feel comfortable with us and never want them to feel pressured during the process. Regarding the product being overpriced, this simply is not true. The product is controlled by the insurance carrier and regulated by the states which must approve the product and the price point before it can be sold to the public. The product we sell is competitively priced within the industry. It is not the cheapest nor the most expensive, but we feel it truly offers our customers the most value. We are sorry that you felt this is not the case. We work very hard to ensure insurance agents have more than a competitive edge in the market and that is why many of our agents more than double the insurance industry average for income. We still wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Nice place to work

Pros

There is a lot of money to be made at North Star! All of the leads are sent to you by telemarketers that find out if a client is eligible for coverage before sending them to you. Management cares about their employees and they have a nice culture. If you're a telemarketer then you have a base pay of $15 an hour and make outbound calls to clients who requested information about life insurance.

Cons

The job gets tuff at times but its worth sticking out
