Pros
As a graduate research assistant, I have been able to work on cutting edge research here at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. The Engineering faculty at Northeastern receives the second highest number of funded projects in the New England area after MIT. Great facilities especially if you are into MEMS/ Semiconductor hardware. the cleanroom facilities are top notch.
Cons
The downsides are simply the same as in any graduate school research work. Sometimes you are stuck with a problem whose solution you don't even know exists. But to work through this barriers and uncertainties make research even more fun.
