      Choose Northern Trust, if you don't want to grow and stay stagnate in your career.

      Pros

      Northern Trust is close to downtown and is easy to get to work. They offer many departments within to choose to work for.

      Cons

      Some of the downsides of working for Northern is that there is no career growth and management does not want you to do anything else, especially when you are good at doing one thing. Management is always looking at their there own butt and not looking at the big picture (teamwork = more productivity).

      Pros

      It is a good place to be employed if someone wants a "job" for survival and do not want to grow. Benefits are good and work /life balance is not bad.

      Cons

      They do not recognize an individual who is ambitious and there are quite a bit of dead weights. Culture is very easy going. Do not expect to be rewarded in proportion to your performance or growth. Promotions are seldom and come through years of seniority not results.

      Well respected, conservative bank but not a lot of job satisfaction

      Pros

      Benefits, stability, located in the loop, well respected by people on the outside.

      Cons

      No way to get great compensation if you perform very well. Very homogeneous, despite the company's efforts to diversify. No responsibility unless you are there 15 years. Very few areas of growth in the company so it is hard to find interesting or new assignments. Also, poor human resource processes - good people are frequently overlooked
