      Northrop Grumman is a large, structured organization. The systems and products are important and participation in them gives a sense of accomplishment.

      Cons

      There are endless policies and procedures, many of which seem inconsistent and poorly thought out. There is relatively little opportunity for independent initiative.

      Pros

      Stable work. Low stress and relaxed environment. Dress is fairly casual. Schedule is flexible. Hours are sane. Free coffee. Nationally Recognized Name.

      Cons

      Dinosaur technology: Company builds to the status quo instead of pushing the use of advanced technology. Slow to embrace new ideas. Technically inept management: Managers of technical projects have little understanding of day-to-day challenges faced by their employees. Process Heavy: As a government contractor there is a lot of bureaucracy and busy-work to deal with.

      Limited opportunities for advancement Almost impossible to transfer within the company They put you working at a government customer site and forget about you--out of sight, out of mind Seem to favor young people, who only work there for 2 years and then move on
