I was hired from outside as a supervisor. O'Reilly's practice from promoting within sounds great, and they do look for viable candidates to promote, however their stubborn adherence to this practice makes for some very underqualified supervisors, some who have been there 10+ years, promoted, demoted, promoted again. so they get stuck in "this is the way we've always done it" mindset.

The higher level managers (district and regional) are out of touch and have unrealistic expectations. There is not a good combination of corporate level professionalism and friendly local hospitality - it is usually too much of one or the other.
