Culture is very much a dog-eat-dog, rough neck, tough guy place and if you are a nice guy like me, you just don't fit in, at least in the sales department. They look at outsiders (those hired from outside the company) as such, and don't treat you very well. There are also some areas that have high turn rate for employees (usually a sign of poor management) The culture is one of not just being frugal, but outright cheap.
