Pros

Meeting new people mainly. Developing relationships with your customers, team members and the occasional upset customer.

Cons

Having management cut your neck after you bust your chops for them. There is no respect for the little person, much less the full time workforce anymore. They have implemented a program to rid themselves of anyone that not in a management slot, so that they may hire in a workforce of part time whatevers. That they have a program to walk out the door as well. They don't care about the professional customer anymore, only about the money the professional has paid to O'Reilly for their services; not patronage. The degrading of team members by store managers, district managers and regional managers. Not only will you find that the occasional retail customer has their own complaints you will find that their complaints were valid from some of the defunct products that were sold and the issues they've had with management biting the proverbial bullet and telling them they can no longer warranty out the product anymore. Prepare to disappoint the ones you love, O'Reilly is here to disillusion us all.

Getting too big

Pros

Store managers have a lot of leadway with most of the district managers, you get paid well if your store performs well. Benefits are decent, and they don't have layoffs.

Cons

District and Regional managers only care if they look good despite saying the most important part of the company is our employees. They will bail on you in a heartbeat when it is most important, no loyality or true compassion for their store managers. You have little personal time. The company is too big now and it's all about HR covering themslelves, can't loose a penny of profit just because an employee has burned out, overworked themselves, or had the company first for years and years. Can't wait to kick you to the curb when you are taken out of the position to make them shine. Discriminate against age and decreased physical aility, younger, single managers promoted to DM, they are forced to becom fakes and backstabers to further themselves or keep their spot. Small company atmosphere is dead.
