      Otis Elevator has a lot of potential

      Pros

      Business operating system is comprehensive and drives business results. EH&S and ethics are non-negotiable. If you don't value these, you will need to work elsewhere.

      Cons

      UTC and company executives struggle with where to place Otis. Just made Otis an independent division, reversing the course taken two years ago. Hoping the current path stabilizes the business.

      They compensate you well for working out of town.

      Cons

      Upon receiving employment with Otis, I was advised I would be working 4 10 hr shifts a week as an apprentice. I was assigned to a mechanic who was not very reliable and was lucky if I worked 2-3 shifts a week. Some weeks it was only one shift. After 3.5 months of employment, I had to miss two days. The mechanic complained about me being unreliable and as result, I was let go. I have since discovered this mechanic has worked with 4 apprentices since the start of the year and has been unable to work with all apprentices.
