The Heyday is gone

Pros

* Has a lot of good contacts with local companies. * Many of the core employees are very good at both technology and mentoring. * Absolutely the place to be if you want to work in Grails.

Cons

* The training practice has withered. * While it used to be a place that attracted the best development talent, the heyday is gone. Much of the top talent has left, and the company hasn't attracted top talent lately. * The founder prides himself on taking care of his top people, but in practice this means that being a favorite of the management family is too important, and that every employee has a slightly different benefits package that depends on the relationship with the management. * The focus on Grails means other web technologies get the shaft.

Pros

Some high end clients who need real science and computer science ruling the solution. In general their alumni and engineers are cream of the crop scientists from physics, physical chemistry, engineering and computer science.

Cons

Farm out those they deem as consulting fodder with very little training. Admittedly expecting that people they haven't trained have the same intimate tuition their chosen ones have had due to old school tie, or prior university research teamwork. They are basically pompous, psychophants in management, with a few very influential demogues. You cannot trust them at their word, they have no integrity in management.
