Pros

Oblong is committed to thinking big, literally (in terms of the size of a system UI) and figuratively (to do whatever it takes to make that happen). If you want to work on exciting technology, then Oblong is a great place. Importantly, the senior management, in addition to being intelligent, are good people. They care about the folks who work with/for them, and they set the tone for a culture of integrity.

Cons

The company's products currently have only a smallish number of (very large) customers, which in the untrustable opinion of this ill-informed outsider suggests uncertainty in their future.

We work really hard to create an environment that is positive and supportive for our employees. I’m sorry to hear that this was not your experience. Our sales leadership, like all of our managers, constantly strives to improve his/her departments and to make Oblong a great place to work. Overall, Oblong has made great strides toward ensuring our sustainability and growth. 2017 is on track to be a great year with the release of our new wands, a smaller form factor of Mezzanine, and expansion into new territories.

Pros

John Underkoffler is a very good person. He has created a unique company. There is respect ambition and great work being done. There is a lot of talent in Sales Finance and Development.

Cons

The accusation of nepotism from another review is somewhat true. Top leadership positions are occupied by old friends of the CEO and they are not great for their jobs (COO, Business Development, CS) which is unfortunate. The design team is getting better and learning from mistakes but could make less mistakes with a more experienced leader.

He has indeed created a very unique company! I also appreciate your feedback regarding our leadership. We have made some exciting changes and have learned from our past challenges. I can honestly say that we have a stronger leadership team than ever before and are excited about what’s in store for the year ahead.
