TERRIBLE company to work for

Pros; if you're a stocker you start early as 5:30am (or whatever a.m time they accommodate for you) and you leave early.

Cons

Cons; the pay was terrible. Everyone usually starts with 11 dollars. If you're a front end supervisor or a department head you'll get 11.50- $12 (which isn't worth it). The company is so unorganized. There's rarely any planograms so stockers just shove products anywhere that they feel "belongs". They're very strict about having your phone on the sales floor yet managers are always on theirs. You're always being watched from the cameras which can be uncomfortable. The company is very "old school" and not up to date with modern technology to help associates advance (i.e; price scanners, computers, walkies unless you're leadership etc).

Three years ago I wrote on Glassdoor how happy I was to be working for a company that offered so many PERKS to the associates. My family and I had the best summer ever thanks to the many discounted events. Last year, I wrote about the Values and the Culture of Ocean State Job Lot. To see the ideas of ownership, filter down to some of the greatest people I have ever worked with, made me proud to be an associate at OSJL. Every year the comments on Glassdoor need to be refreshed. As I pondered what I would share this year, I was inspired by something one of our owners said. This is a great place to work and it is, just because it is! The perks, the benefits, the Mission, Vision and Values are all followed making OSJL an employer of choice; just because it is!
