Pros

The work was quite easy and the atmosphere was laid back. The company has potential for growth, albeit slow, for those that work hard. Great location for the IT group to work with a nice new area.

Cons

The problem with the laid back atmosphere is that the overall system health was always an issue and the managers in charge of the systems had no clue as to what the problems were and how to track or monitor them. The help-desk is useless and is probably one of the biggest issues there. (Just ask any employee. They call it "The Helpless Desk".) The NOC needs leadership not some director type that never goes to visit the department. The most senior employees were always chosen over the more experienced folks with leadership quality. Management is definitely an issue there. Lets not forget about the below average salary's they pay for new employees and promoted individuals. The below the cost of living increases in pay are the worst.

Pros

My co-workers were great and the vacation time was a little better than average however, there was never real time off of work. Great ideas, but poor execution of those ideas.

Cons

The pay was below average for the amount of work. No true work life balance - time off was never truly time off because my director required that I respond to all emails and calls even while on family vacation or on sick leave - this is unacceptable. Great ideas were generated, but the execution of those ideas was horrible. Leadership is very disconnected and top heavy....too many captains stearing the ship. Those who go above and beyond are not recognized and leadership never shows true appreciation for employees. There were at least 5 major transitions in systems and processes during my short employment. Many failed programs and no consequences at the highest levels.

High turnover- you are replaceable

Pros

Opportunities for growth toward management. Decent on-call rate for specialty call (neuro, cv, pv, eyes, transplant).

Cons

Hourly rate much lower than competitors, poor health plan that is very expensive, high turnover, bad attitudes. We joke that there are two things you should get out of orientation: 1. You are replaceable. 2.Learn the phrase "That's not my job...."
