Pros

Good pay and some decent people to work with. Not expected to work long hours.

Cons

If you like to do things the way they've always been done, this is the employer for you. But if you question the norm and bring ideas to the table, watch out. Someone else on here noted there is little training--this is very true. Other than the one day initial associate orientation, I was not trained to use tools essential to my job title. Very little room for growth within the company. Reorganization is occurring inside the system literally daily.

Shady business practice and terrible HR

Flexible schedule in some areas. The company puts on a good front for "Best Places to Work"

Cons

This is a non-profit, but they will nickle and dime every option to increase cash on hand. This includes delaying vendor payment, delaying employee payment, charging patients more or for services that were not rendered. HR will quickly make your life a living (bleep) if you speak up about harassment and management abuse. This is a VERY corporate environment. You either kiss butt and "belong" or you are quickly shown the door. They will intimidate you until you fold to their molds. People who are honest will not be appreciated. Senior management only cares about profits... even though they are non-for-profit. They claim to put the patient's needs first, but complain how their ratios are down because people "keep dying too quickly". There is ZERO orientation, unless you are a nurse. If you don't "meet their expectations" your review period is extended. I saw many people fired within 30, 60, 90, at 120 days just because there was other people waiting to be hired. They don't spend much to hire you, so they see each employee as replaceable. Why work on someone when we can try a new person? Benefits SUCK. It's a health cash account with 80/20 after deductible. Very little in cash account and huge deductible. They also limit your coverage to OhioHealth facilities and coverage options. It's also very expensive. You also need to jump through hoops to even qualify for the coverage. Want to cover your spouse? That's extra too. They won't match your retirement savings until a full year of service. Even then it's very small. Vacation time, or TAP time, is accumulated. Basically you earn a small amount every pay. Like 9 hours a month. You can not use any hours until your first 30 days are up. After that, you can only use what you have accumulated. Basically a little over a week paid off after you worked a full year. Oh by the way, this is ALL time you take off... including a sick day. Management is generally young and unmarried with no children. They really don't care if they work 70 hours a week and they expect you to do the same. Work life balance? Not here. But they will let you come in early or leave early if you agree to log on from home and work from there. I had someone email me at 11 pm at night and then the next morning at 7 am complain that I didn't respond in a timely manner. I was actually given a verbal warning about that. Say something to HR? They will side with the manager. Just FYI. One thing OhioHealth does do is donate. They bleed money into the community which is great, but it also buys them good press with the local media. A great place to work my (bleep). So glad I got out of there!
