Pros
The max pay currently in 2024 is 31.55. You start out at 21 an hour but increase as often as every 3 months. Within 2 years you will be at 31.55. The job can be a lot at times and very fast paced for someone who is new especially. A lot going on but over time it is very manageable. You will be unloading freight off of trailers which are on deck bars and on the floor using straps and dunnage and air bags to secure the freight. Rules apply to the varying freight you will encounter and you’ll learn those in the 2 weeks of training.
Cons
Cons are that there is not overtime until after 50 hours. It used to be 60 and we were never allowed to hit that. The hours are odd most shifts work Tuesday through Saturday if you are on days. Nights work Monday through Friday but there are a number of different times and days you could work. It’s demanding because the job is based off production and things can be hard to get out in a timely manner due to the placement in the trailer and the shape of the freight because things fall over and you have to recoup them. The money is worth it as long as you can make it to a year.
