Pros

One of the best reasons beside the fact that your career will be boosted by the fact that you work for one of the top tier consultancies is the very collaborative and friendly working environment. Of course everybody needs to perform, but you have nice people around you, you also like to see in your free-time.

Cons

Well, everybody must know whether or not Management Consulting is what one wants. If you are not willing to give 100% for this job, you will not succeed. That of course obliges a certain trade-off in your personal life.

Career progression can be really rapid at OW if you are are a star; Generally enjoy the people who I worked with; Work on exciting projects;

Cons

Zero (literally, zero) name recognition - I don't think I've ever had one person that is actually familiar with the company - they have a really bad brand recognition problem; Work life balance is bad but similar to other consulting firms;

Pros

Like many of the top consulting shops, the firm has great clients, interesting work, and very smart employees. The culture is perhaps more down to earth than MBB in general. The firm has some solid depth in both industries and services/functions.

Cons

The firm is struggling with how to integrate its three legacy companies, which had 3 distinct operating models and cultures. Legacy Mercer Management was a classic strategy shop across industries, legacy Oliver Wyman did a full range of work from strategy to ops to implementation in the financial industry, and Delta did organization and leadership work across industries. The firm still operates essentially as 3 separate units which is a huge problem.
