Pros

After nearly 11 years of dedicated service, starting with Webroot and growing into leadership roles including Manager and Sr. Manager, I was laid off without warning. The decision felt abrupt and deeply impersonal — especially given my unique position as the only woman leader in the corporate vertical, reporting to a woman leader. It’s often said that women should lift each other up, but in my experience, the opposite held true. What made the experience even harder was the perception that the layoffs disproportionately affected U.S.-based employees, and particularly women in leadership. Navigating this job market is challenging enough — doing so on an immigration visa adds another level of complexity and anxiety. During my time, I saw talented products absorbed and shelved, strong teams disbanded, and valuable U.S. talent dismissed. I struggled to see genuine integrity, career development opportunities, or inclusive culture — especially for women. It was disappointing to see promising technology and people reduced to numbers in quarterly reports. If you're considering a role at OpenText — especially as a woman in leadership or an employee based in the U.S. — I encourage you to ask tough questions about the company’s values, growth path, and treatment of talent. My hope is that sharing this experience helps others make informed decisions.

Pros

Depending on the year, you can get up to a 10% annual bonus.

Cons

The company is a dictator ship where management has little to no flexibility managing the company. All decisions come from the top down with no room for discussion. People are unfriendly to the employees of companies they have purchased. There are only small insignificant raises once you are on board.
