Leadership matters

Pros

There are still some good people in the ranks... many of them want out, but have found ways to "hide" and collect a big paycheck.

Cons

Incredibly weak senior management team that could be the subject of an MBA class on failures in leadership. After the merger, the former Accuvant leadership team quickly pushed out anyone who disagreed with their opinions or questioned them. It was a "yes man" culture that became completely self-absorbed. This made for a toxic, backstabbing, political environment but most importantly Optiv completely lost its customer focus. This is a classic case of "C" leaders hiring D's and F's... when those subpar leaders have prominently established themselves throughout the organization, it is incredibly hard to recover. The future for Optiv is not good.

A merger that turned ugly

Pros

Great industry, lots of talented people, still.

Cons

After the merger the benefits were downgraded, bonuses cut, questionable leadership decisions. There's been a systematic dismantling of Fishnet Securities most talented turning it into a shell of itself. The outcome is a company that could have been great is not so great if you look under the hood.

Pros

-Work from home (while you still can, starting to require majority in office days) -Flexible time off -Semi-flexible work schedule

Cons

-Communication - You better hope you never need another department to work with you on something, or god forbid educate you about something. They don't care why you reached out, they just want you to know it's not their problem. No one cares about the delays they create, they just don't want the "problem" on their plate... No one gets in Optiv's way like Optiv. -Training - Once you have your new-hire on boarding there is no specific training. Oh, you want more info? Here's an email you already have that wasn't helpful the first time. -Management - Management style here is a never ending stream of emails telling you how to do your job with bits of negativity sprinkled in to make sure you know you're replaceable. When you start to see good people quit a company without another job even lined up, you know it's bad. Comradery - There is none. Culture - There is none. Whether it's the intent or not, people can only take so much negativity.
