Pros

Benefits are great. Health and time off are good.

Cons

Everything else. Promotions are rare. Pay raise is low, if you get one. If you’re good at what you do, you’re overworked. There’s very little recognition for contributions.

Good and bad

Pros

Oracle paid a good wage coming in, but only one raise in seven years. Benefits are good. Good health insurance, dental, eye, and 401k. My group was a great group of people to work with. I was there for 7 years. I got to work from home.

Cons

I don't know where to begin here. Upper management does not listen to their techs. They only care about money and how much something will cost, rather than what will best do the job. They force you to use inferior products rather than use what's best for the task. They rather waste money on unnecessary projects rather than mission critical systems. They were out of contractual compliance with customers and didn't care. Cloud groups don't know what they want to do. We started down one path, stopped, went down another path and then stopped, to go down yet another path. Money was wasted by moving offices about every year. Raises don't exist. I only received one raise in 7 years despite outstanding reviews. Review process does not have any bearing on monetary rewards for some reason. Jobs are being shipped over to India and Philippines. They will hire 5-6 India staff before hiring one US staff. They expect employees to work themselves into the ground, but don't want to pay them what they're worth. They're top heavy and spend money on hiring directors and managers, but not on people who actual perform the work. Then they will swamp you with projects expecting to get everything done in an insanely short time. My project was given to India staff and I was laid off. And you won't get warning about getting laid off. They tell you and you're done in that instant. No time to wrap any projects up or handoff items to other peoples.

Pros

- Work-life balance: never more than 35-40 hours/week - Easy transition out of college and great opportunity to become friends with fellow Class Of’s - A lot of leniency amongst managers in terms of PTO and Work From Home days - Time and motivation to recruit for other positions

Cons

- Success is mostly based on territories and sales counterparts - Lots of politics and downtime getting things approved and pushed forward - My manager was probably one of the most incompetent and childish managers I have ever had. This manager only cared about gossiping, the quota the manager had to hit, and being able to leave early during the work week - Unclear goals of sales organization as a whole; lots of change without informing employees until last minute
