Pros

There are a lot of smart, good people working here. Plus, Oracle's business spans a lot of areas, giving you a lot of opportunity to potentially contribute.

Cons

I have never been at a company that made day-to-day productivity so difficult. Internal tools don't work, support is miserable, and intranet resources are disorganized. Also, internal bureaucracy is staggering. And I say that as a former employee of Microsoft. Management seems perfectly willing to chip away at benefits in search of a bottom line. As other companies are expanding parental leave rights, Oracle still has no paternity leave. They doubled healthcare deductibles last year. And most recently, they essentially furloughed employees over the holidays in an attempt to tweak quarterly earnings. Also, I didn't even stay there long enough to go through a review cycle, but word on the street was that raises/bonuses were virtually non-existent. Oracle is literally the worst company I have worked for, and that's especially frustrating because there _are_ a lot of good people there. It's problems are with management and corporate structure. Larry Ellison is not a good guy, and I really do think that trickles down into the rest of the corporate culture.

Pros

Oracle has the brand name recognition which is great for selling it's products. But most or many Oracle customer's simply do not like Oracle. You can make good money or you could, and I've been with the company over five years. Benefits are also good. I love selling the products in my current sales bag.

Cons

CEO Hurd has taken his failed approach at HP on slicing down sales teams with fewer products over to Oracle. All while providing competing sales comp plans which creates huge confusion for the customer and slows the sales process. At Oracle if you are in sales, you competition is always internal first focused. The Apps teams are completely silo'd and never work with anyone, although some groups tend to work together it is really project by project based, or frankly, relationship based in the field. Oracle contract process is failed and horrible.

Pros

Good overall work-life balance. Hours were reasonable with comfortable offices. (I was in the ME group which had offices in the Santa Clara Campus.)

Cons

Titles seemed inflated, or the salary was mediocre. (One or the other). After I left, I found myself two levels lower in position, but had a salary bump.
