Pros

Nothing. If you are lucky, you will be placed in a territory that actually generates revenue through effective prospecting, has license renewals that will help achieve quota, and get scored with a great manager (although those are hard to come by in sales orgs at Oracle). You will also learn how to deal with idiotic customers, and idiots around you. Oh, and snail-paced internal processing. No work from home policy.

Cons

Too many to list. As a college hire from a top school, I can thank Oracle Sales for making me lose all of my brain cells by being surrounded by co-workers who have never read a book in their lives (minus us overqualified college hires from top schools). Surrounded by lower-tiered school hires because sales execs running the Sales Academy program went there (not going to name them), which meant working with bros and bimbos. Managers are just there to get to field positions and could care less about you. As long as you are making money, they make money. Also be prepared to be presented with unrealistic and un-achievable quotas. Like the rest of us you can still bust your butt and not be successful-- which is also another harsh reality of sales.

Pros

Stability, Not too much pressure. Good facilities to socialize and network to get things at oracle. Some smart peers with great achievements.

Cons

Too much beaureaucracy and red tapism. Inefficiency because of old school methods of management. Business needs to be more aggressive.

Pros

Oracle is a company where you can learn the ropes of selling to big companies. Oracle has a very rigorous sales process and has sales reps constantly working to better themselves so that they can sell more software. Oracle is a great place to learn the fast paced world of enterprise software. Oracle also has amazing benefits for both individuals and families. If you are looking for a place that has amazing benefits, this is the place. Also, if you're looking for a no travel sales job where you can make over $100K, this is a great place to work. Top inside sales reps can make upwards of $150K.

Cons

Oracle can be a really oppressive and depressing environment for sales people. Oracle has siloed sales teams and no team knows what any other team is doing. Consequently, customers are constantly complaining about the lack of internal communication at Oracle. It's not hard to find an irritated Oracle customer. Inside sales reps only have control of about 50% of their income. The rest of their income is dependent on their field reps to make up the rest of their income. You could be 150% of plan and could make less money than someone who was 50% of plan because their field sold a lot and yours didn't. This can make for some extremely disappointing paychecks.
