Pros

Great people. I think the thing I miss most are my co-workers.

Cons

Management. Upper Management in Australia not in tune with the issues happening in the US. The new structure doesn't work and they are doing their best to force a square peg into a round hole. When I started with Orica - it had a great culture. Employee focused and a desire to develop internal talent. That focus was lost ... changes being made to save money were to the detriment of the employees and to the business. Ability to manage was stripped from the Managers and certain departments were becoming the focus of everyone's frustration and dislike for the new structure, procedures, etc.

Pros

Great staff Collaborative, team mentality Promotions used to be internal Great work life balance

Cons

Many Staff in IT were very long term (10-30 years!!) so there is some resistance to change Good rhetoric about accountability from incoming senior management, however staff aren't empowered to think and act - just do what they are told Many key decisions that were once transparent and questionable are now made behind closed doors and secreted away from staff. There is a ceiling for promotion as new CIO has brought in people he worked with in the past to fill senior management roles rather than promote from within.

Pros

Vision (7 Pillars) has been published in trainings. Payment level for mid and upper management seems to be very well. Good opportunities for graduates in Australia.

Cons

Headcount reduction project hangs like a Damocles sword. Uncertainty about future as regional management is not able to provide a valid strategy. Salary and hiring freeze as well as STI cut for years result in lack of quality of service. Declared Visions and Values are messed up by the mid management. Very high grade of frustration on lower levels.
