Pros

Orica has got very nice exposure to the young graduates. that is the usp of this company. It pays well, not that competitive but al right. Office culture is good.

Cons

Pathetic work life balance but that is a given when you are working for the mining sector. Not sufficient training provided.

Opportunity is scarse outside of Australia. Heavy emphasis in centralization leaves regions out in the dark.

Good health benefits, which is probably the only reason to stay. Lots of the reasons to join Orica have been taken away in the last 6-12 months

Cons

No training, no work life balance, demand you are at your desk 8-5 every day, despite being a global company where I am regularly taking calls from 5am through to 9pm and traveling constantly on weekends. Bonus and raise structure recently changed to make it hardly worthwhile. They claim to offer a 20% bonus, but in reality it is structured to make it impossible to get anything more than around 6%. Internal promotions have been stopped as policy, bringing in outside people instead of growing internal talent. All anyone talks about is how to get out.
