Pros

I'm afraid I just don't have any

Cons

As a veteran field rep looking to expand my inspection business, I went through all the training hoops of this company...background checks, online tests, videos etc. Upon being brought on as a contractor, I forwarded a detail list of the counties and towns which I service regularly. Within a couple months, I logged in, and saw dozens of commercial grade surveys in the other part of the state, some 90 miles out. The fees were circa 1980 rates. I quickly advised the regional management that the logistics of doing this work at such abysmal rates was an affront to my sensibilities. The reply was that these were the "agreed upon rates" when I came aboard. (Agreed upon yes...within 25 mile radius!) The work was removed from my queue, and Ive heard nothing since, having removed their software from my PC. I can only imagine the low-level 4th string inspection staff a firm like this must attract.

Pros

When allowed to do so, the independence is great , as are most customers and finding out how different business's operate.

Cons

Very sparse paychecks, different realities between home office and field personnel. Home office tells you one thing, your manager something else. Auditors are on the lowest rung of the company, and it is assumed you have nothing of value to contribute. They were sued successfully previously by past employees over OT and other working conditions, and definitions of what is actually qualifies as time worked. And they are pushing the envelope again. As they have lost 2 major customers. When it's busy, they expect you to work off the clock(without getting paid overtime) in order to complete your work. Now that they are losing customers again(previous posting on this site, was accurate about them losing business), they are not allowing you to even have a 40 hour work week, and expect you to only claim 20 -25 hours worked. or even less. Yet be available to answer your phone, respond to emails etc. for the whole week. They are treating you like you are on a salary and should be available for the whole week, yet they will not pay you for a 40 hour work week. And they are very sneaky about it.

Pros

Can be flexible, as you are in charge of your own scheduling, but you are scheduling a month ahead usually

Cons

They do not compensate for all of the driving, low pay for the work being performed, company expectations are near impossible to meet
