Pros

They provide you with free coffee.

Cons

What a mess. The company's main selling point is that they support women and families when in reality this couldn't be further from the truth. They have fired amazingly talented and hard-working employees without even a hint of poor performance or warning of what they could do to improve. Senior management is comprised of mostly males who couldn't care less how employees are undervalued. Management will let a hard working staffer go (without any previous intervention with said employee) if that means saving their own behind, which has happened on several occasions. Be warned and don't let their sweet talking fool you - if a job here sounds too good to be true, that's because it is. This toxic place will let you go without a second thought just as fast as they hired you.

Mission-driven women's health company

Pros

Ovia is committed to improving women's health, and measures its performance based on health outcomes and engagement from the millions of women who use its apps. The culture is awesome: employees respect each other, work well together, and learn from each other. It's rare to find a company whose business aligns so well with a mission that employees can believe in.

Cons

The office is a bit run down (chalk that up to startup frugality) and the downside of startup enthusiasm and fast pace is that systems often lag a few months behind the need for them.

Pros

In the middle of Downtown Crossing.

Cons

Both of the last two years there were massive firings of 10-15 people, without any forewarning or improvement plans. Plus all the people that get fired within 3 months of being hired. The new Chief Growth Officer they hired couldn't care less about the people at the company. He will fire you without thinking, and is just inherently uncaring and walks all over everyone. Get ready to fight for your job every day. Monetary goals are severely missed, and instead of looking to the leaders who made missteps and just inherently bad decisions, entire teams are canned without blinking. People are miserable here – management is scared that people may actually find out what it's like to work here.
