PACCAR is not for everyone

Pros

- Good pay to start out right after college/early career - I had a friendly team/people around me when I worked here, but I think it really depends on what team you are on. - Work/life balance

Cons

- PACCAR Isn't for everyone. If you are coming out of college, or just starting your career, then I think it would be a great opportunity to work here for a few months/a year. If you aren't into dressing up, or into old-school culture, and can't keep your head down for a few months/a year, I wouldn't recommend this company, especially if you are very liberal. - Very conservative & old-school - 2 weeks of paid vacation for lower-paid employees, when other companies are providing 4+ weeks vacation, no matter what level they are on. - WFH is not flexible - 100% in office, even during covid - They make you dress -up in professional attire everyday - No diversity - Chairman is rude to everyone, and is not understanding. Everyone is afraid of him.

Pros

Good location - next to Bellevue Square Mall

Cons

1. Salary way below average market rate. 2. You have to wear expensive formal suits no matter what your salary or grade is. They do have discount coupon for some ridiculously expensive store and is practically a joke. 3. Office timing - You are expected to be at work between 7 am to 8 am. Your management will be very unhappy if you try to enter anytime after 8 am. You will have meetings scheduled at 7 am in the morning which you would have to attend in person. If you miss the meeting (even if you have a doctor's appointment) your management will point it out. 4. There is no work from home policy. Even during Covid-19 pandemic employees have to be in office doesn't matter if you are critical or non-critical employee. 5. Nepotism at its best. 6. Unethical hiring practices - even if you have a valid visa and you are LEGALLY eligible to work in USA) - recruiter would ask "what happens to your visa if your husband loses his job?", "What happens if your husband's company decides to not renew his visa?" etc and then cancel your application. Recruiter would advise hiring managers not to hire people on visa. 7. Employees get promoted only if they are in the good books of the management no matter how (job performance does not matter). 8. They practice lowballing for all positions. Years of experience or education doesn't matter. 9. Diversity is a joke. Racist and Sexist culture is promoted. 10. Forget getting promoted if you are a woman and have small kids. Female candidates are hired at lower salary than male candidate even if female candidates have higher educational qualification and work experience.

Pros

Great place to retire. Excellent benefits. Stable.

Cons

No upward mobility. Lagging behind most of the modern developed world - Google for images of the corporate office. Because of the previous point, PACCAR is in a rush to play catch up or make appearances to playing catch up. This has resulted in an erratic approach to most projects and implementation. The Agile process implemented at PACCAR has been subverted into a form of micromanaging.
