Pros

The menagerie of worldly, educated, and intelligent individuals working there. Generous PTO and remote working capabilities.

Cons

Let me count the ways.... 1. Leadership and upper management are more concerned about their generous salaries and resumes to care about employees. 2. Ageism is rampant, leading smart, hard working employees to be consistently demeaned and incapable of carrying out tasks, projects, or dare to have ambition lest we be patted on the head like Cindy Lou Who and told to mind our place. 3. PCORI hemorrhages employees and instead of recognizing it is due to major, major issues (ageism, narcissistic leadership, inequitable pay, opaque and subjective promotion guidelines, exhausting managers/directors who cannot manage, inadequate support, a defunct HR department..I could go on) the organization lacks the introspection needed to actively implement solutions and properly support employees. 4. Leadership in engagement is spotty at best leaving fantastic managers to exit left or continually remain powerless. "leaders" are not properaly evaluated in a 360 manner perpetuating a lack of transparency. 5. Extreme variation in workplace balance/fulfillment depending on the department. 6. It is a mini AHRQ which proves no benefit to business practice, reporting structure, programmatic decisions, and work flow.

Pros

The pros are my team members that support and appreciate my work. The collegial environment among coworkers. And the "mostly" smart, dynamic, and helpful staff.

Cons

Uncertainty of working here due to the incoming administration and what that will mean for PCORI, particulary in regards to the PCORI fee. Lack of transparency and communication from upper management especially during times of uncertainty. Lack of structure in terms of promotion, job titles, and salaries; it varies widely between departments and teams. Lack of acknowledgement for jobs well done or those that go over and beyond.
