-Cheap OD. The office team bondings often suck. She almost never treat the staff with any treats or show recognition in that regard. Staff monthly meetings were supported with MCDONALDS as breakfast more than once. -Assistants are expected to assist the dentists all day long - on top of that do custodial duties at the end of the day. This means if it’s been a long hectic long day with overtime you better believe you’re still mopping all the treatment rooms, bathrooms, take out all the trash, vacuum hallways, launder lab coats, etc. -BILLION DOLLAR WORTH COMPANY…JUST HIRE SOME DAMN JANITORS? -Assistants are part of the clinical staff. We’re not your janitors! The exploitation is real there. -OMs in the company are usually without dental knowledge or experience. Hired based off sales or retail background! -ODs are almost never experienced working dental outside of the company so they’re locked in with what they know. -Overturn rates are crazy. Always a different face with specialty assistants or someone leaving. -Be prepared to “pick up hrs” at other PDS offices in the region because they will send you there to WORK when it’s convenient to them! -Never really a full 40 hrs/wk for full time employees. More like high 20s-30s a week. Hrs will be cut due to schedule not being filled by admin. They’ll have you help other offices for your hrs or you take an off day. -Lead assistants & assistants who been with the company for longer won’t have to travel as much as the newer staff. So poor newer assistants still training & learning but have to fill that void to make ends meet. -Lead assistants tend to think they’re superior. Constantly reminding the staff they’re the lead assistant out of the team. Definitely creates poor culture, unable to communicate effectively or nicely to staff when stressed, fails to properly train staff but when job unable to be done faults the person. -Be prepared to talk about metrics EVERY SINGLE MORNING during huddles. Yes the entire staff will hear about the dentist’s numbers & expectations. EVERY DAY. The poor dentists & hygienists that have to hear they’re not meeting their goals daily…Saddening. -Schedule will be as if you’re working retail or for a restaurant chain. They will have you come in when patients are scheduled only or will make you work harder when they send your coworker to help out a diff office. -Break room is so small (they expect you to be on the floor DOING SOMETHING every chance you can get in) -No time for bathroom break, coffee or water breaks, hardly get a lunch break in (staff take turns to eat according to which dentist schedule they are helping). Usually 30 mins-1 hr lunches. Mostly 30-45 mins! -Benefits package is nice BUT EXPENSIVE DEDUCTIBLE FOR PPO. My hospital bill through the roof! -Associate dentist gets treated like trash -Same day crowns with cerec can be a mess. They sell those cerec crowns like crazy but pts consistently coming back in for repreps/redos. I feel bad for the victims (the sweet innocent pts). -Specialists are the money makers so general dentist keep their schedule short and sweet just so they can hire THEM for BIG BUCKS for work they can do for the pts themselves! Simple EXTs with swelling? NOPE TO OS IT GOES BECAUSE OS SCHEDULE expects a full schedule ;) Bill for ENDO/OS codes for bigger fees. RUN. & NEVER LOOK BACK. AGAIN.
