Pros

Very nice staff and talented dental assistants.

Cons

Poor management. Dentists are reduced to a name and number--your ADP (average daily production). Every patient is an "opportunity" to make money for PDS and barely any for yourself. A PDS "supported" doctor has no support unless they have a high ADP. The number of Cerec crowns you do is carefully tracked and if you aren't cranking them out, you'll get fired. No autonomy. Cheap equipment. Not enough X-ray units in the building (usually just two that you share with specialty!). I recommend it for short term to get experience but then run. Maybe have a baby before you go while you're still on the insurance. You didn't spend all your youth in school to be told how and when you can use your degree by a bunch of non-dentists!

Pros

Dental benefits Friendly coworkers Day passes by like a breeze because it is so busy.

Cons

PDS hires a lot of people to run the offices who has no dental background. You would think that they would train you but instead you are thrown into the job to either sink or swim. Training is pretty much nonexistent. You are held responsible for your own training when you don't even know what you are doing because no one is training you. This job is extremely fast-paced and you will be doing more work than what you are paid for. Stay away at all cost if you don't want to suffer.

Pros

When I first started, I thought company loyalty and patient care were what we stood for.

Cons

Compensation is low unless you're management. Benefits are average. Constant turnover with doctors and other staff. There is no loyalty and the only thing that matters is the money. I sincerely wish that the NW region would follow Steve Thorne's ideals on how he wants the company.
