Pros

Great training, great culture. A lot of team members truly embrace the corporate vision. Their "We believe" statements communicate the vision in a very positive, uplifting manner.

Cons

Sometimes the days can be long, but that is the nature of dentistry.

Pros

Learning about the Dental field was endlessly fascinating and their technology was cutting edge. They bring quite a bit to the table for a dentist that doesn't want to learn business and focus only on practicing dentistry. The benefits if you needed dental work were really great.

Cons

Incredibly low paying job for the hours expected, poor leadership in the Rocky Mountain Region, poor choices in hiring their practitioners (probably because the compensation can't even cover their student loans and students seem to be the only ones willing to go to work for them), and a life-work balance that doesn't exist for any employee in a leadership role (Lead DA, Practitioners, Operations Managers). All the new managers they are hiring to fill in at existing offices will only be cleaning up messes created by poor managers from the past. I literally spent my entire work day addressing problems from upset patients, problems from upset employees, and being made to feel that our only role was to collect money from patients. Little emphasis was put on the care, but rather the business end of things. I've been in the work force for 23 years now and Pacific Dental was absolutely the worst working experience I've ever had.

Pros

The dental benefits are really great, most of the work is dirt cheap with employee discount, however, its also hard finding a dentist that can do the work and not create more problems.

Cons

The health benefits are a joke, the treatment of patients and employees alike is very harsh. You're expected to "upsell the insurance" which is also known as fraud. Adding unnecessary obstructed canals and ortho appliances is the name of the game. Drive the price up for the patient and get as much as possible out of the insurance whether the procedure is necessary or not, as long as they can't prove it, go for it. Ethics do not exist with this company, from the HR department down to management, they are out to cover their own butts and don't care who they have to burn in the process. I personally witnessed several employees working off the clock as the request of the office manager, even made a formal complaint with the ethics hotline, what resulted? Being told by my district manager that "if someone doesn't like how things are done here, there is the door" and that "loyal, good, employees are willing to do what it takes to make the office successful." I think the CEO Steve Thorne is a good guy but unfortunately there are a bunch of clowns working under him.
