Pros

Learning to use a cerec cad/cam was fun. Trying to think of anything else you wouldn't find at any other dental office. That's about it.

Cons

The reason this company has flown under the radar and not had PBS do an expose is because they put different names on their dental practice to hide the fact they are just another corporation looking to screw patients. It's all about the money. They made us dentists go to full day trainings on what to say and how to manipulate patients into starting treatment that day. They also keep track of how many crowns and fillings a dentist does every month and if you do more fillings than crowns, they send the big wigs to yell at you and pressure you into doing more crowns. Of course they want crowns instead of fillings because a crown is worth $1000 where as a filling is worth $90. The $39 exam, xray, cleaning is to get your but in the door. Then they pressure you into upsells and you walk away having spent more than you needed. My advice is find a dentist you know personally that does not work for a corporation and stick with them or you'll be sorry.

Bad Terrain for Dentists

Pros

New offices with modern equipment.

Cons

Poor mid- and upper management, hostile work environment, astronomical turnover (due to poor management), cult-like setting, refusal to listen to employees (by HR and management). If you voice a concern or wish to improve things, expect retribution. I feel that this a management company and not a dental company as the concern is not patient care and feedback. Most of their managers do not have previous dental experience, yet set the standards for expected treatment. Very frustrating conditions for a dentist. Sadly, the CEOs belief statements are neither followed nor practiced.

Pros

The CEO, Steve Thorne is a true visionary in every sense of the word. He developed the concept of the company and has worked hard over the years to fine tune the organization. He is charasmatic, down to earth and a straight shooter, all qualities I was immediately attracted to .

Cons

Unfortunately, Mr. Thorne's vision (in my opinopn) seems to be disregarded by some members of leadership, or translated in a self serving fashion by others. I often feel Mr. Thorne may not have the most loyal management team when I witness this miscarriage of leadership. There is virtually no Performance Management, Mentoring (for management or employee), except the robotic annual review process. No time investment to the employee. in this organization the dentist is the valuable asset, the other employees are made to feel dispensible. Weeks, weeks and weeks can go by before we see a Regional Leader/Manager in our area... another reason the employees/managers lack morale , motivation or a feeling of value to the company.
