Pros

The campus program(where a lot of the tech leads emerged from) is great for those coming out of college to get comfortable and hone their skills in a professional environment. The folks you work with on a day to day manner are generally awesome and great to work with.

Cons

Despite their claims of being a tech first firm it’s abundantly clear that this is not the case . Upper management is unwilling to adapt to the evolving market and value employees accordingly. Peak6 tries to use a agile and product mindset but does so in a very ineffective manner which frustrates engineers and inhibits tech growth.

Pros

Seeing the building in my rearview mirror.

Cons

Poor management in marketing, micromanaged, lots of attitude/poor treatment by CMO control freak, long hours without proper compensation, poor office conditions in creative department. No work/life balance. Expected to be "ON" 24/7, Extremely stressful and highly critical environment.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We read and respond to each piece of feedback on Glassdoor to try and understand how we can do better and continually improve. Our marketing team leads efforts across many businesses in our portfolio. Work is geographically dispersed, fast paced, and dynamic. The goal is to empower employees to work in the manner most efficient to accomplish business goals. It seems that this work environment was not the right fit for you, or was different than your expectations. I hope that you are able to have a better experience in your next role. We always encourage employees to have open conversations about any ideas that can improve the firm. Please reach out to either Amy Smith, our Chief People Officer at asmith@peak6.com, or to me at bgoldberg@peak6.com if there is any additional specifics you are willing to share about your experience. We strive to make every employee’s experience at PEAK6 a positive one. -Brad

Negative themes are a problem

Pros

Free snacks, cool, extravagant parties. Smallish firm, so a lot of opportunity to learn and do a bunch of stuff.

Cons

The themes of the tons of other negative glassdoor reviews are all true, but I think it can be boiled down to this: PEAK6 does not care about their employees, despite making a big deal over how much they do. Read back to reviews from early 2016 - you'll see a bunch of glowingly ones in the middle of tons of negative. The reason is that PEAK6 felt concerned about their employer brand image, and instead of paying attention to the poor reviews and finding ways to address the concerns (low pay, poor management/leadership, limited career progression, lack of transparency) - they asked all current employees to please write reviews - "positive or negative" - but positioned in the context of needing to improve the GD image. This is representative of everything that is wrong with PEAK6 - until upper management starts listening and taking real, meaningful action, nothing will change. Actions speak louder than words, and employees will invariably lose faith in this broken system.
