      Exciting and Lots of Opportunity

      Pros

      I really enjoy working at Peak6. The people are nice and I feel like the people I work with genuinely care about what they do here. I feel like my manager supports me, and I've been able to take on tasks and responsibilities in areas I haven't in the past and thus have learned a lot. It's an exciting industry and a cool place to be. If you're smart and work hard, there are plenty of opportunities here. The company also does poker events occasionally and those are pretty fun.

      Cons

      I don't really have any cons. I know some people don't like working in office but they were very clear about that in the interview process and I personally like it so it works well for me. There is a lot of change here which may seem daunting, but for me it's actually led to more opportunities and I am learning a lot in areas I never realized I was good at.

      Best in class for office politics

      Pros

      Day to day, people are outwardly pleasant.

      Cons

      Upper management is awful, constantly looking out for their pocket to the detriment of employees. In good years you will get the minimum to keep you happy. In bad years they will act like they are doing you a favor allowing you to walk through the doors. Countless nonsensical decisions including arbitrarily starting and stopping new strategies, constant team reshuffling, and fully subjective compensation. Terrible packages when compared to firms ownership thinks they are competing against. So much sucking up, back stabbing, and resulting dead weight you would think it was banking.
